In early access

Bill from the board.

ColumnLedger is a planned app for monday.com. It will turn board items into correct invoices in your accounting system, with subitems as line items, and write paid status back to the board.

Nothing is installable yet. We are choosing which accounting system to support first, from early-access requests.

The work is on the board. The invoice is somewhere else.

Teams that run client work in monday.com still invoice from Zoho Books, Xero or QuickBooks Online. The gap between the two is filled by hand.

Retyping the same invoice twice

The client, the line items and the amounts already sit on the board. Someone copies them into the accounting system by hand, line by line.

Lines that go missing

A job with twelve subitems becomes an invoice with eleven lines, or one lump sum, because nobody wants to type twelve rows.

Paid status lives somewhere else

The board says “invoiced” for weeks. To know whether the client paid, someone has to open the books and check.

What ColumnLedger is designed to do

Everything below is planned. None of it is live yet.

Subitems will become line items

Each subitem is planned to become one invoice line with its description, quantity, rate and tax.

Tax per line, from your own setup

ColumnLedger will read the taxes already configured in your accounting system and let you map them per line. No hard-coded rates.

Paid status written back

When an invoice is paid, the plan is to update a status column on the item, so the board shows who still owes you.

A dry run before anything posts

You will see a preview of each invoice before the first real one is created.

Re-runs designed not to double-bill

Each invoice will carry a reference to its board item, so running the sync again is designed to leave existing invoices alone.

A sync log you can read

Every attempt will be logged with what was sent and what came back, so a failed invoice can be fixed instead of guessed at.

The planned flow

  1. 1

    Map columns once

Tell ColumnLedger which column holds the client, the rate, the quantity, the tax and the due date.
  2. 2

    Preview

Check a dry-run invoice against what you expect before anything is created.
  3. 3

    Create

Create the invoice from a button on the item or from a board automation.
  4. 4

    Get paid status back

Paid or overdue status will be written to a status column on the item.

Which accounting system first?

Zoho Books, Xero and QuickBooks Online are all under evaluation. We will build for one first and say exactly which one, including Zoho data centers, before anyone installs anything.

Bill from the board, without retyping.

ColumnLedger is in early access and nothing is installable yet. Tell us how you invoice today and which accounting system you use; it decides what we build first.
